Dr. Uggist (pronounced druggist), born Rob, is a drum and bass producer and DJ hailing from Charlotte, NC. The Dr. Uggist brand is built around a single philosophy: medicate through music therapy.

Rob’s path to music was anything but conventional. After completing a Doctorate in Pharmacy and layering on an MBA and a Masters in Data Science, a career spanning genetic oncology research and synthetic healthcare data demanded a creative counterbalance. Music production was the prescription he’d been missing.

A guitarist, bassist, and cellist from childhood, Rob returned to music with the genre that had held him for over two decades — drum and bass. His love affair with the genre began in the early 2000s with LTJ Bukem, and has since grown to encompass the darkest corners of the spectrum: techstep, neurofunk, dark rollers, melodic DnB, and orchestral DnB scored with the weight of a film soundtrack.

The pharmaceutical concept runs deep — from the artist alias to the track names, from the label aesthetics to the clinical precision of the arrangements. In Dr. Uggist’s world, a bassline is a compound, a mix is a formulation, and the dancefloor is where the dosage gets administered.
